Another finally Friday; even though I have enjoyed a few short holiday weeks, there is just something so completely wonderful about Fridays! Here is a quick snap as I crossed the Wabasha Steet bridge leaving the concrete jungle in my rear view. Happy Friday all.
This is out of theme for this blog, but this window caught my eye. The texture and coloring of the brick was amazing in the afternoon sun.
The second day of the new year was a bit blustery and the roads icy. Hardly a deterrent to get out in shoot – even if mostly through the car window. I spied lots of abandon farmsteads today – too many shoot in one day. There is another one right there!
Taking a trip up the North Shore of Minnesota is plenty fine in Winter provided you pay attention to the roads. A little dusting of snow can make a slight curve in the road a bit menacing.
Driving along “The Grade” Northwest of Lutsen by Toohey Lake; the wind was a bit gusty and the snow tornadoes plentiful.
Ol’ Split Rock Lighthouse. One of my favorite state parks on the North shore. Ellingson Island offers some spectacular views of the lighthouse and shoreline.
Porcupine Valley in Wisconsin – loved every minute of the seven-hour tour today. Lots of barns, abandoned homes, wildlife and picturesque scenery. Good times.

Lots and lots of deer hunters out in the Rice Lake area. It was of no surprise, but the sheer number of them was incredible. There wasn’t a back road or dead end that I went down that did not a half dozen trucks every half mile.
A very relaxing and full day of back-roadin’ from Red Wing, MN to Rice Lake.
What a nice day for a drive. From Red Wing to Mondovi, WI and back home. It was quite a loop; mostly all back roads. Great weather and nice scenery – very relaxing afternoon.
